Make grandpa proud
18-Year-Old Aerospace PhD Graduate Builds Her Own Aircraft to Memorialize Grandfather
Maaike Meyer is one of the world’s youngest PhD graduates. But her early success is not what it seems, it came with a hefty price.
At a young age, Maaike went through a traumatic episode that would change her life forever.
“I was raised by my grandparents after my parents got divorced.”
“My grandpa was a pilot and the kindest and most loving man.”
Every year on Maaike’s birthday, her grandfather would take her on a plane ride. But on her 8th birthday, he said no. Their conversation that day was etched in Maaike’s heart:
“The weather conditions aren’t good, honey.” - Grandpa
“But you promised, grandpapa.” - Maaike
As the doted granddaughter, she threw a tantrum and begged her grandpa to change his mind. Having a soft spot for Maaike, Grandpa Meyer finally conceded. He went to the trouble of obtaining special clearance to fly from air traffic controller.
On Top Of The World
Whilst in the air, Maaike recalls:
“I was soaring! Flying was my favorite thing in the world.”
“Suddenly, we were totally blinded by thick fog.”
“I froze in complete and utter fear.”
Things took a bad turn very quickly when Grandpa Meyer lost control of the plane and was forced to make an emergency landing. Without proper visibility, their plane crashed into a hillside.
“My grandpa died on the spot.”
“He saved my life by shielding my body.” - Meyer
Nothing Was The Same Ever Again
Maaike was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Thankfully, she would heal, but the traumatic incident and her grandpa’s death left a mark on her.
Not only was she wrecked by survivor’s guilt believing that her grandpa would still be alive if not for her, Maaike started having nightmares and terrifying flashbacks of the accident. It was so bad that she had troubles focusing in school and fell behind hopelessly.
“It was like the light went out in Maaike’s eye. She just totally lost interest in life.” - Grandma Meyer
One day, Maaike’s principal called Grandma Meyer in to recommend home schooling for her. Apparently, her PTSD flashbacks were disrupting her classmates and teachers.
Grandma Meyer refused to give up on her only granddaughter. She hired a tutor for Maaike and took her for counselling, art therapy, and psychiatric help. But, Maaike could not concentrate for more than 10 minutes, and therapy was not working as she refused to open up.
Widowed, Grandma Meyer struggled to pay off the mounting medical bills. With no hope in sight, Grandma Meyer had no choice but to stop Maaike’s therapy sessions.
Until One Fine Day…
Grandma Meyer’s friend Marianne came for a visit, the house filled with the soothing smell of Marianne’s perfume, and Maaike changed instantly.
“I was shocked! For the first time since the accident, Maaike became a lot calmer.”
“It was like she was a renewed person.” - Grandma Meyer
It turned out that Marianne was wearing a homemade minty perfume oil. Intrigued, Grandma Meyer asked for a bottle of Marianne’s homemade natural perfume.
She started to massage the oil onto Maaike’s temples for 10 minutes every day.
Amazingly, Maaike started showing signs of improvement. She stopped having nightmares and could finally pay attention during her studies without her panic episodes.
The Miracle Didn’t Stop There
Maaike’s tutor noticed that she was suddenly able to learn things a lot faster.
“She started being able to absorb complex mathematical models with ease. It was amazing!” - Ms. Atkinson
Maaike’s growth was unprecedented. She completed entire modules much faster than an average student. Shooting up to the top 0.01 percentile, she completed high school at 15!
Not long after, she was offered a scholarship to study Aeronautical Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU) and completed her PhD in a record 3 years!
She even built an entire aircraft on her own to memorialize her late grandpa.
The Hidden Potential Of The Mind
Amazed by Maaike’s abilities, Dr. Eric Wright from the Neuroscience Department of MSU reached out to her. Apparently,he had been spending years working to unlock the brain’s hidden potential.
Curious herself, Maaike agreed to be help Dr.Wright. She suspected that her success had something to do with Marianne’s homemade perfume oil. So, she gave Dr. Wright a sample of the oil for lab analysis.
It tested high in menthol found in a unique variety of peppermint called menta piperita from Japan. According to Dr. Wright:
“Low levels of neurotransmitters in the brain are associated with anxiety and poor cognitive performance.”
“True enough, the menthol in peppermint helps increase neurotransmitters in the brain.”
“The scent acts as a catalyst.”
“Triggering the olfactory bulbs in the nose which is linked to the cerebral cortex.”
“This improves concentration, memory retention and problem-solving.”
“And supresses stress and anxiety hormones.”
Dr. Wright proceeded to develop a special steam distillation technique to extract the purest peppermint essential oil.
He Calls It Verea™ – Liquid Gold In A Tiny Bottle
According to Dr. Wright:
“Verea™ is a natural and non-invasive way to enhance cognition and destress.”
“There are a number of ways to use this boosting formula.”
“You can diffuse the oil.”
“Or apply it topically around your temple, neck area, or wrist for a more immediate effect.”
“Over 97.9% of our clinical trial patients reported increased clarity, relaxation, memory retention within a month.”
“Even our dementia patients showed great signs of improvement.”
Here is what Maaike said:
“It was exactly the same scent from my childhood but sharper.”
“Upon first contact, I felt immediately alert and relaxed at the same time.”
“As a PTSD patient, this scent saved my life.”
“I used to not be able to concentrate for more than 10 minutes.”
“Now I am able to contain my anxiety and remain receptive.”
“I can quickly make connections between various groups of complex information.”
“I’m amazed it was Marianne’s homemade perfume after all!” - Maaike
With a small addition of natural peppermint to Maaike’s life, she was able to find the laser focus needed to succeed in life without raising her stress levels. With Verea™, Maaike’s success can now be shared by everyone!
