Edward Miller’s fire alarm went off during midnight, his mind immediately raced to his two kids sleeping on the other side of the house. He opened his room door to find the hall filled with heavy smoke and fierce fire. He tried using buckets of water to put out the fire, but the fire only continued roaring and going out of control. There was no other tool to use to put out the fire or protect himself; even more so, there was no way to reach the kids. Immediately he picked up his phone to call 911.

“At that time, my room was getting smoky, I went to my window for some air. I felt the heat of the fire on my back and skin, it was getting difficult to breathe, it’s like I was going to pass out.” – Edward Miller

“The next thing I knew, I was being treated for smoke inhalation in a hospital. My blonde hair was black, and my skin was covered with burnt blisters.” – Edward Miller

Once Edward was awake, the doctors went to him, along with the investigators.

“After investigation, we believe the fire broke out from a faulty extension cord. The house exploded, and was almost burnt to the ground, it took 2 hours to take out the fire completely. And the two children did not make it, I’m so sorry.” – Donald McKnight, chief investigator

The news dropped like a bomb, leaving Edward’s heart in pieces, just like his home. Emotionally shattered, Edward locked himself up in his mother’s house. His appetite was gone just like his children, and so was his will to live.

But all these took a turn thanks to Edward’s mom.
