Wheelchair bound WWII veteran made remarkable recovery, fulfilled last wish to walk granddaughter down the wedding aisle
“The fact that I could stand and watch with my eyes what unfolds today is a miracle in itself, I have no regrets now.”
– Frank S. Guillard, 93 years old WWII veteran on his wish.
Frank Guillard is a 93 years old world war 2 United States army veteran, he formerly served in the Army Ground Forces of the US Army.
He was formerly involved in the Italian campaign where infantry casualties are the highest.
During the campaign he mostly slept on the floors or out on the dirt, always on high alert. He would also have to scale up and down mountains and rivers to set up camps.
This eventually took a toll at his body and resulted in constant neck and joint aches.
The war was over but the worse has yet to come.
When they were brought back to the US Guillard and many of his squad members suffered from major neck injuries and PTSD.
“It was like a nightmare every night, I wouldn’t be able to get a good sleep and the constant uncomfortable ache kept reminding me of the floors and dirt in Italy.”
“It makes me feel like I am still there, I would be shocked out of my sleep.”
6 years ago his last surviving squad member in the same infantry committed suicide because of PTSD. Guillard himself is afraid that he will end up doing the same thing one day but was soldiering on as he has one last wish.
“I just want to be able to stand at my granddaughter’s wedding and walk her down the aisle. This is my only wish now.”
Guillard and his granddaughter Elicia has a very close relationship stemming from family circumstances.
Elicia spent many early years of her life living with Guillard, looking up to him.
Guillard suffered from persistent neck and joint ache, he couldn’t stand for more than a minute, let alone walk her granddaughter down the aisle.
This forced him to rely on a wheelchair to lie down on while navigating.
They have tried everything medicine, acupuncture, physical therapy… but nothing worked.
The doctors told him the only way to solve it would be by surgery, but as his age is too old the risk of surgery is just too high.
One day Elicia was contacted by the doctor telling him he may have found someone who could help Mr. Guillard relieve his pain.
Elicia was then introduced to Dr. Paul Faulkner.
DrPaul Faulkner is an Orthopaedic specializing in polysomnography, the study and research of sleeping.
“The neck of a person is one of the most important part, it intersects with the spine and head is where most of the nervous system is.”
“It also acts as the set point for the cervical spine and cervical vertebra that majorly affects neck pain.”
“By applying the right posture and pressure to the neck during sleep they should see improved condition immediately.”
A Harvard health research studies shows that disruptive sleeping patterns that Guillard is experiencing could lead to chronic musculoskeletal pain.
“the conventional pillows on the market currently can no longer provide such support”
“After many trial runs and research, Angolia™ Pillow was thus created to fix this recurring problem.”
“Our award-winning design helps create what is known as the optimum angle to sleep and breath.”
“Coupled with Angolian Latex that have rare retention capabilities because of the climate and soil factors the retention durability of the pillow is increased.”
Proper sleeping posture have been proven to help increase blood flow to the body and help improve blood pressure, better REM sleep and also increase memory capabilities.
Elicia couldn’t believe such a simple fix could help his father but with nothing to lose she tried anyways.
The first week Guillard tried sleeping on the pillow, he noted big changes.
“It was like laying on a cloud, I no longer feel uncomfortable like I usually do.”
“I have never felt so relaxed and slept so soundly for a very long time, when I woke up, I had tears of joy. I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing from something so simple.”
After a month of using Angolia™ Pillow, Guillard has started to be able to take small slow walks again. And not long after he was able to walk perfectly fine just like any normal person.
He recently attended his grand-daughter’s wedding and fulfilled his long time wish.
