Kicked off Flight
Woman Nearly Kicked off Flight Because of Her ‘Spillovers’
Lydia Cooper is a wedding makeup artist. Her clients are from around the world so she’s a frequent flyer. But there’s a problem; she has a fear of planes and it wasn’t due to heights.
The Tipping Point
It all started when Lydia took on an overseas assignment. Boarding the flight to her client’s wedding, Lydia thought nothing could go wrong.
She managed to squish herself into her seat, making herself as small as possible so that she didn’t invade the personal space of the person sitting next to her.
But it was all in vain.
Her seatmate complained loudly to the flight attendant:
“You can’t expect me to travel next to a big person like her.”
“I paid for a full seat, not half!”
The flight attendant could only look at Lydia with pity. She said:
“I’m sorry, ma’am. As per our airline’s ‘passengers of size’ policy, you have to purchase another seat now or we’ll deny your boarding.”
Out of the corner of her eyes, Lydia saw people snickering and giving her side-eyes. She was so embarrassed, but she had a job to do; she couldn’t let her client down.
So, she blinked back tears and paid for a second seat.
“In that moment, I wished the plane would fly faster. Everyone kept whispering behind my back. I felt so ashamed.”
“But I wasn’t always this big… not until I lost my parents to a car crash 10 years ago.”
“I began eating because it took my mind off the bad stuff. Before I realized it, it had already gotten out of control.” – Lydia
Lydia Knew She Had to Lose the Pounds
The humiliating flight experience was the last straw for her.
“I tried all sorts of diets — Atkins, Keto, Paleo, Nutrisystem, Low-Carb…”
“I even started going for fitness programs. Spending thousands on the Gym, Pilates, and HIIT sessions.”
“But my flabs clung onto me like glue.” – Lydia
With no progress in sight, Lydia began to lose hope. She resumed her habit of comfort eating, scoffing down burgers, pizzas, and cakes. She’d eat to the point of throwing up because she was too full.
During one of her binges at a diner, her body could no longer take the vicious cycle of bingeing and purging. Before she realized it, everything turned black.
A Wake-Up Call
She woke up in the hospital where the doctor shed light on her condition:
“Your constant purging has caused tears in your esophagus. You’ll be knocking on death’s door if you continue.”
The news brought Lydia to tears.
“How else am I supposed to not gain any more weight? Nothing I do works.” – Lydia
The doctor, Dr. Ito, was actually a renowned bariatric physician. Witnessing her helplessness, he decided to help her. He handed Lydia a box which read ‘Alivea™’.
“I’ve met many patients like you who struggle to lose weight. To help our patients, my team of global experts and I invented Alivea™. Alivea™ is the fruit of our 5-year research into the best ways to tackle weight gain.”
“Infused with high-quality handpicked herbs from the Japanese highlands, all you need to do is stick Alivea™ on any area that needs shrinking and the organic herbs infused in it will do its job — burning and preventing the formation of fat under the skin while accelerating your metabolism and suppressing cravings”
“Without any of your effort needed.” – Dr. Ito
Lydia Was Skeptical at First
But since she had nothing to lose, she tried it anyway and she thanked her lucky stars that she did.
In just 1 week, she dropped 25 lbs. Within a month, almost 87 lbs were lost. After 2 months, she successfully lost a staggering total of 180 lbs.
She had to change her entire wardrobe because she became too small for her clothes.
“It was incredible! I started to regain my confidence.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever be afraid of flying again because I’m finally comfortable in my own skin.” – Lydia
In that moment, Lydia opened her eyes to the truth. She remembered the humiliation and discrimination she endured, tearing up over how far she had come. Driven with a new sense of purpose, she decided to become a makeup instructor and offered free lessons to the community.
“I want to guide and help others onto the right path and the only way I know how to is through teaching makeup.”
“Putting on makeup can be therapeutic and is an act of tacking back control.”
“With a little makeup, I want to help others see their beauty so that they can be confident about themselves and avoid going through what I had to.” – Lydia
